i learned various things in this chapter. One thing i learned was that a mother, does not matter what class they are, will do anything for their child. in this chapter a soon to be mom was going to get into a fight with another lady to get a box of pampers. Another thing that i learned was that we should really be thankful for what we have. Negra always wanted a doll and when she finally got one, she started to cry and she treated that doll really well. I mean this one doll meant the world to her, a DOLL. i mean if she was so thankful about that then why arent we thankful for at least having a roof over out head. she had to cut off her hair off becuase of the stuff she had in her head. she didnt have the right treatment so that she can keep her hir. that is really sad becuase to a girl, their hair mean alot to them. this shows me how thankful i should be for what i have even though it is not much. this poor girl didnt even have shoes so that she can go to school. i felt horrible reading about this but it is REALITY. sometimes reading and learning more about poverty is not good enough. you have to get up and start making a differance. that can be the only soloution. well the basic things i learned was that a mother will do anything to make sure their baby is healthy and that i should learn how to be thankful for what i have & also that i should stop sitting bck and looking at people go through poverty, its time to make a change.

I found two teachings in my perspective in these two parts of the story. I saw that a woman would fight to keep her baby/child alive and healthy. She would dig through the trash finding things to keep the child secure. I also learned that a person living inn poverty would do ANYTHING to get food, water, shelter, or anything else they may need.

I also learned that to be thankful for what you have because all Negra really wanted was a little toy doll. What im trying to say is that care for every little thing you get because people in poverty dont have this.

These two chapters taught me that there are always those little things in life that you love and appreciate, and that poverty can really affect your life in the most negative ways. Negra was surprised by a doll. A doll was something Negra really wanted, and it was also something she never had. Once she got the doll, it was like she had just won the lottery. Little things like that can have such value and can mean so much to you, and that shows that its important to appreciate everything you have. Poverty cam impact your life negatively in so many ways. You don't have money for anything that is needed to survive, and you can't even go to school. Some even steal to survive. Poverty is just horrible.

I see two sides to this whole situation. On one side, there's a mother who would do anything for her family. On the other side, there is a child who goes through mounds of trash for food, water, or anything to survive.

Well i learned that the mother would really do anything to keep her child and thats the same thing that a person in poverty they will fight for the end to get more money, shelter, food , water. This chapter taught me that there are little things in life that you have to do to gt other things in life
In the chapter i have learned that a mother will risk her life to protect the baby and and try to feed him/her. In the book there was a part where when the baby was born it didn't had any diapers or nothing but the mom was trying her best to help the baby out. There was a part that really surprised me when Maria wanted a doll someone gave her one and she was happy and cried. This chapter made me learn a lot of things that i should blessed on what i have and help others in need.

Something really important that happened in this chapter is that it also says that a girl helped Negra by giving her a doll because she wanted one. She was so happy that she started crying. She was thankful and didnt want to get the doll durty so she kept it inside the box. She also wanted to learn how to read and write and they also helped her by buying some shoes for a her and a uniform. Even though she got her shoes jacked she went to school after.

In this chapter something I learned is that you should be grateful for what you got, because there is someone who has less then you. You should be happy that you got this life your living, another thing i learned is you got to stay strong no matter what gets in your way. I mean negra got beat up and had all her things taken away, that didn't stop her from going back to school though...unfortunaley she got expelled but still. lastly I think i learned is you need to make the most of the little things in this world.

i think that what i got from the book negra is that this women would do anything to keep her baby alive and growing healthy. this woman did so much just to keep her child warm, food in its stomach. while reading this book i was realizing that people who are living in poverty do so much to help there family and themselves but honestly by searching threw the trash i believe that there is nothing else for them to do but it is there only choice and it is really doing nothing because i believe that going trash diging is part of the reason people that are in TJ living in poverty thats where most of the deseases come from.

Negra is a girl that was a girl that was to poor to own shoes,
clean clothes, and clean food. Even through all the word is against her most of the time she still is able to put a smile on her face. Her life was not a life any kid should live in, but if anything she was able to get, she felt like it was a gift from god. However, it is her mother that protected her, she was a good women for she would be happy in her death knowing her daughter was safe. Even though a human might be poor. They would raher die protecting what they have left, it is this thought that helps Mexicans live through the nextt depressing day

Some of the valuable teachings that come out of "Negra" is that the mother would risk anything just for her children. A mother would do anything for her children, she'll look through the dump in order to find food or supplies she needs. Negra always wanted a doll, when she got one she began to cry. She treated that doll very carefully.

What i learned from Negra is that when you you in poverty things don't come easy and that things that you get will be one of the greats thing that you will get. I get this from the story because of one thing was that the girl only want a doll. She never had one in her life, so when she finally got one she cried. She cried, she cried for something that we all probely got when we were little. It was so preions to her that she never took it out of the box. Also, didn't have the needs to go to school. She need shoes and a uniforms, even though she didn't have the things she ant to learn. Also that her mother try very hard to help her daughter, Negra with everything. That is another thing i learned was that mother will try everything to help their daughter no matter what.

I think that one of the things I learned from this chapter is that it is very hard to get an education if you are poor. In the mexican schools, you would have to buy a uniform, so the poor people wouldn't have to stand out. I think that this chapter also says that people will fight to take something, which shows you just how messed up our world is. I think this also shows that people might think that it might be easier just to give up.... (which they shouldnt!!!)
In this chapter, I personal believe that you should always be grateful for what you have, because there are so many people that don't have the things they want. And some of us have the things we want. You should always be thankful that you have a roof on your head, pillow and blankets, food on the table, and clothes. I also believe that to never give up in life and to stay strong and to always keep your head up because you might never know the next you could be the riches person alive. And i know negra got beat up and got all her things taken away, but that didn't stop her from going back to school. But later on, she got expelled. And the only thing that negra wanted was a toy doll. lastly, I think to never give up and if you made a mistake act like it never happened and just move on ... And keep living life.

In this chapter i learned two things . One was how much a mother would do to keep her baby alive, healthy , and safe . This women had no food ,diapers, clothing ect. so she would go dumpster diving and find the necessitous for her baby to survive. This just shows the things a mother would do for her child even risk their own life. The second thing i learned was to appriate what you have. The only thing Negra wanted was a baby doll , it matter everything to her she was careful with it not even taking it out of he box , she also wanted to go to school and some people don't even want to go to school and complain about it .

In the chapter Negra i learned a lot of things. Some of the things that I learned where that people that have more money don't appreciate the little things as much as poor people .One example is that all negra wanted was a doll and when she got it she took care of it because she cared and didnt want to damage it becasue that was how much the doll ment to her. Another example was when negra wanted to go to school to read and write so they bought her new shoes so she could learn. This shows that all people shoul value the things they have.

I learned many things from this chapter. Like one thing i learned was that many people would do anything to keep themselves and there children alive. Many people across the boarder don't have much like how we do here in the United States. Over there many people have to pay for things that we get free over here. Many people don't have food so they go looking in the dump for food that they think is not to rotten for them to eat. Also, I believe that we should be grateful for everything we have because we have food and a roof over our heads everyday and people over there have to live in dumps or on the streets to try to survive. They might think that it would be better for them to give up and stop trying but they don't realize that if they give up other people might up like them. There are family's in poverty and there is children that cant find there family's and are trying to live and survive on what they find.

Some of the value teachings i can learn off Negra is to value the things we have because people like Negra and her family don't have the things that we and our family have. There family has to fight of what they want. Some of us go to school because we have no choice and some of us go because we want to learn.People who don't want to be in school just waste there time there, while there are some people that would give up anything to go to school and have a good education like, Negra. We need to value and protect the things we have like. how Negra protected the doll she had not wanting it do get dirty form inside.

I learned alot of things in this chapter and one of them was that the people that have more money don't appreciate the things that the poor people have. The reason why i say this is a powerful teaching is because in the story Negra there was a woman that was willing to do anything to keep her children and family healthy and safe. Also she dug thru trash to try and keep her home clean and disease free.

In this chapter i really learned a lot of things like, people who are in poverty really appreciated what they have more than the rich people. For example Negra really wanted to go to school but she couldn't because she couldn't afford shoes, i believe that maybe one kid who is rich doesn't like to go to school and just go because their mom say it.Another example was when Negra's mom bought Negra a doll. Negra really wanted that doll but her mom couldn't gave it to her. She really appreciate what her mom gave to her that she even did open the doll box, she put it in a shelf. People should appreciate what they have even if you dont like it or want it.

In this chapter, I learned some valuable teachings. One of them is that we should all be thankful for what we have. Negra was a poor little girl with almost nothing, and she wished for a baby doll. When she got one, she was so happy and thankful that it made her cry! But some people like us, are not even thankful for having food on their plate. I think we should be thankful that we don't live like people in poverty. Also, Negra didn't have shoes to go to school. She always had to walk bear foot. Imagine how her feet look like! Poor child. That's why i think we should be thankful because we do have shoes we can walk in. Another thing i learned was that mothers sacrifice their life for their children and will do anything to keep them healthy. In this chapter, moms fight for a box of pampers, but they just did it for their kids. They will do anything for food, shelter, water, medicine and other needed items. As you can see, these are some valuable teachings in this chapter.
I learned many thing in this chapter that we should appreciated everything that we have because the poor people would love to have the thing that we dont like. Also in the book the mother did everything she could so the baby would he safe and healty . Also there are many people that dont want to go to school but there is so many people that are poor that would love to go to school and learned like Negra wanted to go to school but she didnt have money to buy the shoes. Another thing is that she alway wanted a doll buy her mother did have money but when she got it she wont take it out see would play with it in the box so thta is wont get drity. So that is why all the people should appreciate everything they have .

I belive that these two chapters showed me a lot to be thankful for. One thing that shows this in these chapters is when Negra's sister is pregnant and she knows she isn't going to be able to keep up the child. But Negra is very helpful and looks for pampers in the trash so that her sister wont have to struggle more than what she already has. Also another thing i saw is that they have to struggle so much to look through the trash just so they might get a chance for something good. But even though these people have to live in dumps they can still have a happy life up to their extent. One other thing i saw was that even the gangs bullied her just for a pair of shoes this shows that they are just poor or just want to bully people around and not care for others.

The valuable teachings I learned from Negra were that a mother would do anything to keep her child safe;healthy and value the things you have. Negra's sister Mari became pregnant and was in fights, searched for food and other nessicities, and basically did anything to keep her child alive. Just like all the mothers in the world, they all have that instinct to keep moving forward in rising a child. I mean like they all want the best for their children and they'll do whatever is possible to succeed at it. Another teaching is appreciate what you have. Negra was longing for a doll, she had never had one before. So she was very poor that she couldn't afford a doll. And the day when she recieved it she was grateful. It's very different than from all of us because we get a new product like an ipod for example, like whatever, then when a new model comes out we really don't care about the one before and forget about it. You forget about it because it's new and because everyone has it, Negra wanted a doll for the warmth of it, not because everyone had one or because it was "new", but because it truly meant something to her.

i learned some valuable teachings today, like how a mother will do anything to have clean diapers for there child and how back then if you missed two weeks of school you would be expelled. How if you dont have shoes you cant go to school. If you walk alone in that time, some people would beat you up and take your shoes. to accept the things you get and appreciate it and never ask for more. and finally if you really want someone to be happy you finds ways to make sure it happens.

This chapter tought me something I never thought about before. I knew that the dumps were horrible and very difficult to live in. This chapter tought me how genuinely strong these woman are to raise these children in the conditions they live in. I also was tought how to be grateful for what I have. I mean some kids would work their butts off to have some shoes i look back on myself in times when I complained about them. I now know that I need to be a better person and to do this in my personal life.

In the chapter "Negra", I learned a lot of valuable things. I learned that a lot of people aren't thankful for what they have and just want more, while others, like the characters in this book, can barely survive. For example, Negra couldn't even afford shoes to go to school and didn't have a Christmas present. However when she got the doll. she was so happy and thankful that she started crying. I also learned that a mother will do anything for a child no matter what, such as fighting for pampers. Once again, this chapter had a lot of valuable teachings.
The chapter Negra makes me feel sad about her situation, but it also makes me feel fortunate that i am not in that situation, that i have shoes, money, and a home. I am grateful for the things i have like a house, education, friends, and food. A lot of people don't have those things and makes me feel bad because sometimes i am not grateful for what have, sometimes i even get mad because i still want more. It makes me feel spoiled. Negra (Mary) is in a bad situation, and she isn't the only person in that situation, there are millions like her. I really want to do something about it. I would get a group of people to help me help the unfortunate. But the sad thing is that we have many ideas of what to do and how to help them, but we never actually do anything about it. I want MCLA to make a change. Mueller's quote is "Our children will change the world" so why not start now even if it is a little change. That little change might be the biggest and get more people motivated to help us END POVERTY!

In this chapter I learn a lot of things that are really important. For example a Mother would do what ever she could for her children. The mother did what ever she could for her baby's health . Negra wish to have just a little bit of the things rich people have and that sometimes they don't apreciate . Negra didn't had money to buy shoes and she needed shoes to be able to enter to school why we should be thankful for the things we have .In my own opinion I think that you can't buy happyness with your money. As a conclution poverty can affect you a lot but you need hope and help .

In the chapter Negra i learned that we should be greatful for what we have because negra wanted a doll for a long time and when she got one she did not even take it out of the box. And also she could not go to school because she did not have shoes so they kicked her out. I also think that we should be greatful because Negra was a little girl that almost did not have anything, Clothes, food, shoes etc.I also learned that a mother would do anything for their children. For example in the book moms would fight for boxes of pampers. These are the valuable teachings that i learned from this chapter.

In this reading I identified some valuable lessons, the love of a mother towards their child and the appreciation of things. At the begging of the reading you read how finding some water damaged pampers is dangerous. Mothers would fight for this single item since they need it for their own infants. They would fight for anything their child needs, because without certain items raising a child would be difficult. It kind of sounds like moms just wants this to make it easier on them, but moms do need this, DESPERATELY. If fighting will give her something need for the good of her child I’m certain they jump right in risking it all. They say nothing is stronger than a mothers love, in many cases this is true.
The second lesson is to appreciate what you have. This lesson it’s displayed by the girl and her doll. The one thing she wanted was a doll, since she never had one. When she got it for Christmas, she cried. A shrine was even build for that doll. She took really great care of it; never taking it out of the box, not even to play with it. Many of us I bet as we get our presents maybe we only say thanks and run off to use it, and taking good care of it for a while. Then we stop caring wanting something else.

From this chapter one of the things I learned was to enjoy the little things like Negra out of all the things she could want, she wanted a doll. She also showed me to be grateful for all the things that I'm able to have. Negra and her family didn't have much, they didn't have supplies for the baby, or enough money to get what they want and they could barely even get supplies for school. In Mexican schools you need shoes and Negra had gotten shoes just to get an education that also teaches me to not take advantage of free education and to have will and strength against bad people that would bother me. It also shows me how a familyies struggle through everything such as poverty, being homeless, abandoned by the father and having to barely survive on things they find and they still overpower this and continue on and keep pulling through. It taught never to give up. As well as a mother willing to do anything to help her family and raising them alone as a single mother marks a strong woman. It comes to show you when dark times like that happens on ones life you just have to keep your head high and pull through.

One valuable teaching that came out of negra was to appreciate what you have in life. Most people dont really appreciate the things they have and dont realize how lucky they are to be in the position that they are in. Negra couldnt afford to buy shoes in order to go to school. When Negra got the doll, she felt really happy and made me realize that little things in life can be very valuable.

While I read Negra I started to think to my self. I thought about how when I was little and when i would get a new doll. After a week the clothes of the doll would be gone. This little girl had never had a doll and when she gets one she just cherishes it. She won't even take the doll out of the box because she doesn't even want a speck of dust on the doll. My point is that we might not notice it, but everyone has been selfish in a point in time. Not everyone has been a saint and thankful. We take things for advantage. We always want this or that, but we never go back to think about how thankful we should be because we have what we have. For example: We have food on the table, but we are always so picky at what we want to eat. We can't be thankful that at least we have food. Negra also doesn't have shoes. he finally gets shoes and a uniform. Most of us have at least two or three pairs of shoes. Well she has none. We complain because the shoes we have aren't "in" at the moment when other people don't care they just want something to keep their feet warm. Reading this story has made me reflect on how we are not always so thankful. We should be thankful that our parents make enough money to get us what we want and need. I also learned that a mother will do absolutely anything for her child. A women would get in a fist fight for diapers. This makes me think about how we aren't grateful to our parents. They put up with us for so many years and they ask for nothing in return. Just the love that they deserve. Reading and learning about poverty gets me thinking. If we see it around us and we don't like it then why let it continue. We all basically just talk the talk and we don't walk the walk. We just be passionate about poverty for an hour then forget it. Well if we want to end poverty we need to start now. We don't just let everything fly by anymore. We need to be leaders and try to help not just our community, but our whole world. We need to start taking action now!

It was a really was a really good chapter and I learned two thing one of them were a lady who would do anything for her children and she even got into a fight with a lady for a dang box of pampers just so her baby could have pampers and I also learned that somebody who is poor would do anything to keep staying alive and be healthy because they don't have money to go to the hospital so they have to eat what they have .
We all can learn sooo much from this charper , no matter what class your in mothers are still mothers . They will do as much as they can to make their child feel comfy and at home. The mom for example fight just so that her child can have some diapers , not even food . The amount of risk a mom will put to make sure their loved one will survive this harmful world is more than enough . We have to acknowledge those who try their hardest to save a life and theirs too . No matter what we will most likely not be in this situation so we must not be complaining that we don't have enough because we sure do . This must change everyone must be seen .

There are many valuable teachings that came from this chapter. For example "negra" lives in poverty. We understand that she does not have many things like shoes. When she goes to school she is glad that they have to wear uniforms so people won't see that she does not have many clothing. In addition, she got a doll which she really loved and took very good care of. Someone ave it to her and she would never take it out of her box so it will never get dirty. This girl cared about many things and appreciated what she had.

There are two valuable teachings that come out in the chapter''Negra.'' People would have children but they will have to learn the hard way for both f them to survive. It is like a challenge, to see if you can take care of someone besides yourself. You would do anything for your children to survive, no matter how poor you are. Another valuable teaching that appeared in the book is when Negra needed the shoes but yet they were still stolen from her during the time when she was poor. In order to get an education, you must come with uniform and for her it was a great idea. She was able to wear the same thing everyday without people noticing. However, her shoes got stolen so she wasn't able to be properly ready for school. Even though her shoes got stolen, it didn't matter to anyone for how their life style is. They would take what they want without looking back. That is exactly what happened to Negra and her shoes.

What i learned is probably what all these people said, that people need to apprediate the little things you have. Especially if you dont have alot. Another thing it taught me are the challenges to survive. The mom had to search for food so the kid can stay alive, and the kids need to learn to survive by themselves.

I think that something very important in the chapter Negra was that no matter how many times that girl had fallen she would always rise after falling.I also think that no matter if you are poor or not you deserve to be happy.MANY people get discriminated because they are poor and they also get beat up for that

From the chapter Negra I learned that even though Negra is poor she seems to be happy. She might not be happy all the time, but from what I read she acts like if its normal to be living like that .
I also learned that people that have less than everyone else always appreciate every little thing they have. Like when Negra got the doll that she really wanted she started crying and wouldn't take it out of the box, I think that if another girl would've gotten a doll would be happy but she would probably ask for another. I also learned that its even harder being poor and having a baby. Taking care of a baby it hard becasuse they don't have money to buy all the things that a baby needs to be healthy. They pick up the stuff from the garbage and that is not good becuase it might be dirty and you can get really sick but they don'y have another choice so they have to do that. I think that's sad and I feel bad because I complain to my mom when she doesn't buy me what I want.
what comes to mind to start with, is that what we want in life we don't really need, what we have in life we don't apprectiate, what we need won't always be there. The things in life that seem minimal until there comes a point in life where one tends to desprately need that certain thing/person/ etc. that certain thing/person/ etc.will no longer be an option for them so we need to appritiate what we have and not have the neccecity to want something so badly. Negra didn't want anything but a doll, it didn't matter what doll, just the fact to have one would joy here. The sadness in that is that she cant even get one for like a dollar. She finally gets one and she idolizes it but we can't even do that for a shirt or jeans that our moms/dads can get for us breaking their back to get that one thing for us. What she can teach us is that we can't take every/any- thing for granted because other people would die/ kill/ do anything to have the chance to live in our shoes for at least a day

These two chapters taught me that I should be thankful for what I have because there are a lot of people in this world who would kill to have the things I have. A lot of kids today have to walk around barefoot because their families can't afford shoes. A lot of people only get one meal a day if their LUCKY because their parents already have enough expenses to take care of. Some people in our SCHOOL have to beg to even go on the college trips and have to ask other pe

There were many things that i learned from this chapter. Like negra was very poor but seems she got through things and she was happy. There are so many people in poverty its hard to follow your dreams or be happy. But you should always be grateful for what you have cuase there are many people that would want the life your living or me.

some valuable teachings i learned in this chapter are that we shouldn't take things for granted. she has nothing, she lives in the dump and got happy when she got a doll. we have a home, food, good clothing, technology and we still are not happy. another valuable teaching i got is that poor people are the the freshest and the rich are rotten

This Paragraph thaught me that poor familys stick together more often and most people would do anything for there children. I respect her aswell because she has no clothes, lives in a dumpster, dosen't work, and takes care of her children, but she's happy because she has her children .

I learned that you should be thankful of what you have and to apreciate the little things. because any mom would look through the dumpster just to find food for her children.

i've learned that people that are poor or have no money or that cant affored anything will do anything or try to get some food even by trying hard to keep her child alive, happy and healthy. Another one is everyone should appracte what they have because she has verty little things and we have alot and she acts like its normal in her life. And i learned i should be thankful for what i have and everyone else should too.
